The HP (was David 3D) Structured Light Scanner is ideal for scanning objects of any size from a coin to a chair.
Scanning is performed by a trained operator at the NSMIT office in Fleming room 127. A 3D image is created by scanning multiple sides of an object and then assembling them together using the David 3D software. Your scanned image will be saved as a standard 3D file format (OBJ, STL, or PLY). Scanning services are sold by the hour and most objects can be scanned within an hour or two. This scanner uses reflected light to create a scan and the reflectivity of the object will affect the resulting scan.
