You are purchasing time and material to print your 3D model on the Ultimaker printers in the NSMIT Office, room 127 in the Fleming Bldg. To get started, submit a 3D model file (stl format) for a cost quotation using one of these methods:

• Use the 3D Print Price Quote product to request a quote
• Send an email request to "support@nsm.uh.edu"
• Come in to the office, Fleming Rm 127 with your file on a flash drive

Costs are dependent on print time, materials used, and any special requirements. Rates include a minimum charge plus print time and materials used. For Fall 2022, the cost calculation has changed and has generally lowered the cost of larger prints. Costs for small prints have stayed the same while the minimum cost for prints using premium materials has been established. PLA is our default material choice while ABS and Nylon are also commonly used. A number of new plastic materials are now available and metal is being printed on a periodic basis. Please inquire if you are interested in something special.

The Ultimaker printers use Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology to create models out of a variety of materials. They feature multiple modes of operation with a range extrusion sizes and layer resolutions.
