• UH Energy Engineering Ethics 2022

UH Energy and Rossiter & Associates are pleased to announce our Engineering Ethics program for 2022: Engineering Ethics: Speaking to Power. This program will be delivered as a 1-hour interactive webinar, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 2:00 pm Central Time. Personalized certificates of completion will be provided for PDH records.

Many people equate engineering ethics with engineering law. However, as we discussed in last year’s program, law is only one dimension of engineering ethics. Most importantly, engineering ethics is about the way we live and treat others in the context of our profession. In this session, we again explore these two distinct facets of engineering ethics – law and life – and illustrate them with examples and case studies, based on enforcement actions by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors and real-life experience in engineering practice.

The seminar leader is Alan Rossiter, who is a licensed Professional Engineer (TX). He earned his PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge, and he has served in a variety of engineering and management roles with two large multinational chemical companies. He also worked for many years as an independent consultant in industrial energy efficiency. Dr. Rossiter is now Executive Director, External Relations & Educational Program Development for UH Energy, at the University of Houston. He has delivered more than 100 classes, seminars, and workshops on engineering ethics, for corporations, professional societies, and universities, and at public events. He is also the author of a book on professional excellence and ethics (Professional Excellence – Beyond Technical Competence, John Wiley & Sons, 2008).

Registration Fee: $40.00

Certificates of participation will be provided for 1 PDH. This webinar is designed to satisfy the CEP ethics requirement for Texas and many other states. It is the responsibility of each license holder to assure that all PDH credits claimed meet CEP requirements.
