Program Overview:
The energy industry is increasingly turning towards remote operations to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability while reducing costs. Autonomous robots are well-suited for supporting remote operations, as they can perform tasks in hazardous environments without human intervention. The Subsea Systems Institute (SSI) has developed an Automation and Autonomy course to promote autonomous robots in the energy sector. As a technical-focused course that aims to facilitate the integration of autonomous robots in various industry use cases, the course offers a comprehensive exploration of current autonomous technologies, describes how autonomy is realized, and demonstrates how the autonomous robot should be implemented.
